Find a Grave: ... George C. Bruning, 57, president of the Bruning State Bank for the past 17 years, passed away at his farm home east of town. Death was attributed to heart failure.
Mr. Bruning's death came as a shock to the community. He had been in ill health for the past few months, but recently recovery had seemed apparent. He had spent Saturday in Bruning attending to business matters and visiting with friends.
Surviving are his wife and son, Paul. Funeral services were held at their town home and followed by services at the Methodist Church. Interment was in the Bruning Public Cemetery.
Obituary----
George C. Bruning, son of Frederick and Helena Bruning, was born at Gridley, in McLean County, Illinois on October 8, 1881, and died at Bruning, Nebraska on January 29, 1939, at the age of 57 years, 3 months and 21 days. He was baptized January 15, 1882 and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in El Paso, Illinois. April 4, 1897.
Mr. Bruning came to Nebraska with his parents in 1898. On February 28, 1906, he was united in marriage to Miss Margaretha Reichert of O'Neill, Nebraska.
Surviving are his wife and only son, Paul; one brother, William M. Bruning of Bruning and one sister, Mrs. William Wessel of Manson, Iowa. One sister and three brothers preceded him in death.
Mr. Bruning was well-known in this community, having been president of the Bruning State Bank for the past 17 years and active in civic and community interests ...
